Sacred Heart of Mary Wearable Shrine

A hand made shadowbox shrine to be worn as a rosary pendant. I took this vintage image of the Sacred Heart of Mary and placed it, along with a prayer, between two pieces of glass. Hand soldered with lead free solder.

Attached to the shrine at the bottom is a mother of pearl cross and heart with a beautiful icon set in resin in a sterling silver heart; and two beautiful Mary medals. At the top of the shrine dangles an Agnus Dei locket that can open. The shrine is suspended from a double sided Madonna and Child/Sacred Heart of Jesus rosary connector.

The prayer reads :
Our Lady of Mercy
O Blessed Virgin, if there are any who is having been left unsatisfied after having called you in time of trouble, let them be silent.

The necklace is made of swarovski crystals, rondelles, silver hearts and roses, fired crystals, aurora borealis crystals, vintage crystals, freshwater pearls, mother of pearl cross and heart and semi-precious stones.

The pendant has a tiny sterling silver dangle with the artist's name engraved on it.

Each piece is unique and individual and an original.

Wearable sacred art : altars and shrines

MADONNA OF THE GYPSIES
SOLD

I made this series of Black Madonna rosaries. The images are in black and sepia and they remind me of the black of Saint Sarah and the fiery passion and celebration of the Roma and her celebrations.  The Black Madonnas are a very mysterious part of the Marian symbology and our world and although these images are not strictly Black Madonna  images, to me they hold some of that mysteriousness of the blackness of the unconscious made manifest  in this world.

There is a legend in the South of France which is still kept alive in the hearts and lives
of the Roma (Gypsies). This legend is centred on the tiny village Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer
in the Camargue where the white horses run wild, marshy fields covered with pink flamingoes
and provencal cowboys drive the black bulls. Once a year this village throbs with the rhythm of the flamenco, the sound of the banjo and chello, and a spectacular display of the Bohemian lifestyle
of the Roma.

All my handwork are sacred objects and I see the sacred in everything and everyone.  Every simple act in this world holds the profound grace of potentially being  an act of compassion and love, containing the power of bringing deep joy and beauty to our own lives and to the lives of others.

These rosaries are wearable sacred shrines. The body is sacred and a temple of the divine.
Adorning the body with a beautiful sacred shrine is a sacrament of love.

A wearable sacred shrine made from  silver solder, a vintage holy card image between two pieces of glass, black onyx rosary beads, swarovski crystal and sterling silver charms and crucifix.

This rosary is made from black onyx rosary beads, onyx cruicifixes, red swarovski crystals, and red roses.  The tassel of the rosary is made of black onyx beads, a handmade glass lampwork red rose and a sterling silver cross.

A tiny sterling silver Agnus Dei locket dangles at the top of the handmade shrine which forms the centre of the rosary.

The size of the pendant is 1 inch by 3 inch and the rosary is the standard length.

All items come gift wrapped and with tracking and registered international airmail

THE SACRED HEART OF MARY
WEARABLE SHRINE AND ALTAR

SOLD

All my art carries the energy of the sacred places that I have visited and continue to visit across the world.  You can read about my pilgrimages on my blog www.path-of-divine-love.com.  My articles do not only carry the energy, but also the holy cards, medals, water and other items that I bring back with me - making it even more special.

Images of the Divine carry enormous energy and Presence.  There are various ways of explaining it, but the ancients believed that the Spirit of that aspect of the Divine lives in Its image and form.  Those of us who can see light around living beings, can see the light around sacred objects.  In holy places of pilgrimage one can often smell the fragrance of the Divine.

'The Presence of the Sacred Heart was both visible and palpable to me - it was like the abundance of a fruit tree laden with fruit or the expanse of a lavender field.  The love of the Sacred Heart is infinite and expansive, like an ocean and we bathed in the soft lavender light of that church.  As we left, we walked almost straight into a cherry tree, covered with ripe luscious fruit!!

Aaahh such is the ways of the Divine!  Never in either/or, but always in both and everything.  Nothing is excluded : not man-made images and statues, traditions or rebellions :  it all comes together in the Sacred Heart of the World.'  This is an extract of my blog after my visit to the Sacred Heart Chapel in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Nazareth in Rains in France.

This rosary is a wearable shrine.  it contains an image of the Sacred Heart of Mary between glass, soldered by hand with silver lead free solder.  It contains a sacred heart milagro on the back and a piece of distressed vintage text on the meaning of the word citadel.  Mary is the citadel or fortress of the heart!!

The rosary connector is double sided and has two different images on both sides - at the top of the shrine, dangling down the back, is a sterling silver miraculous medal that I brought back from my pilgrimage to the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal in Paris.  (read about it here : http://www.path-of-divine-love.com/search?q=miraculous+medal)  Below the image hangs a double sided sterling silver cross and swarovski crystals on a dangle.  All my jewellery comes with my signature engraved on a piece of the shrine.  The necklace is hand strung and contains faceted crystal and glass beads, Czech beads, fresh water pearls and other beads.  The lower edge of the frame is covered in rhinestones.

This shrine is double sided and can be worn both sides.

The beaded section of the rosary is 15 inches long and the entire rosary including the shrine is 21 inches long. The soldered shrine is 1 inch by 3 inches.

QUEEN GENEVIEVE PENDANT

sold

A hand soldered pendant, artistically crafted hanging from shimmering gold aurora borealis tear drop shaped beads with swarovski seed beads interspersed, bronze roses and crystal.  The pendant is adorned with cherubs and it is connected with a matching cherub from the necklace to the pendant.  Underneath dangles a royal crown and star (hand cast in sterling silver)  A piece for a queen.  It has the allure and aura of an olde world piece which could easily have been bought at a French jewellery market.

The beaded section is 15.7 inches (40 cm) long.  The pendant itself is 2.8 inches  by 1.2 inches (7 cm by 3 cm).  The entire piece including the crown and star dangle is 20.9 inches (53 cm) long.

This is a handmade piece and not meant to be perfect.

All my pieces come beautifully wrapped and SHIPPING PLUS TRACKING IS FREE WORLDWIDE.

MARY OF AVALON
sold

In the arms of Mary, Our Lady of Avalon.  This is a small wearable shrine and altar.  A beautiful image of Mary of the Sacred Heart, set in glass, hand soldered with lead free solder that has the appearance and effect of pewter.  You can however, polish the solder with silver jewellery cleaner and make it shine like silver.  On top of the frame I soldered the arms of Mary and underneath hangs a beautiful red shine enamel apple, a chalice, a sword, a pomegranate and a beautiful icon of Mary.

The apple represents the sacred isle of Avalon and the sacred orchard of apples which still grow in the Abbey grounds in Glastonbury;  the chalice is the cup from which we drink from the sacred wells of Our Lady;  the sword can either be an athame for the altar or the sword of Archangel Michael;  the pomegranate is a symbol of the divine feminine and her ability to go deep into the underworld and to return to this world with gifts and sight;  the icon of Mary is set in resin in sterling silver.

I used many swarovski crystals in the chain, as well as handmade lampwork roses; it also consists of black onyx rosary beads, semi precious stones, coral roses, plastic roses and silver coloured roses with real turquoise pieces scattered in between.

A magnificent Ave Maria connector connects the pendant to the chain.

More pictures and information is posted on my blog http://hergracedevata.blogspot.com/2013/11/mary-of-avalon.html

The entire necklace is 45 cm long.  The pendant is 1 inch by 3 inch without the charms hanging beneath it.

ARCHANGEL MICHAEL
sold

This is a wearable shrine or altar rosary - unique in many ways.  I used an Indian silver mala which I brought back from my pilgrimage to India.  I took the mala apart and insert tiny swarovski crystals, mother of pearl crosses and buttons and rondelles and fresh water pearls in between each Indian silver bead.  I attached the beautiful counter button and the tassel of the mala to the bottom of the shrine. The mala beads are attached with a beautiful Miraculous Medal rosary connector.

The shrine consists of a holy card of Archangel Michael, placed between two pieces of glass and hand soldered with silver, lead free solder in thick chunky layers.  At the top I attached a crown for the Saint Michael as well as a tiny Michael sword.  Underneath hangs a beautiful cross with the Dove of the Holy Spirit in the centre - this is cast in sterling silver.  Also hanging at the bottom is a sterling silver dangle with my signature, as well as a beautiful coloured enamel Archangel Michael medal.

This is a very unique one of a kind mala/rosary.  Rosaries form part of all spiritual traditions and are also known as prayer beads or malas.

All my articles are shipped free of charge and come beautifully packaged and securely wrapped and mailed with a tracking number.

A few years ago I visited Monte Sant'Angelo in the region of Pugia in Italy.  It is on the San GArmano pilgrimage and once a year they celebrate the appearances of Michael in a cave in this village thousands of years ago.  The story is that St. Michael the Archangel first appeared at Monte Sant'Angelo in 490. According to tradition, it all started when a local nobleman named Elvio Emmanuele lost the best bull of his herd. After much searching, he found it kneeling in a cave. Unable to approach it, Elvio shot the bull with an arrow, but the arrow turned around and struck the man instead. Bewildered (and presumably bleeding), Elvio went to see his bishop, who ordered three days of prayer and fasting. At the end of the three days, St. Michael the Archangel appeared to the bishop and said:
'I am Michael the Archangel and am always in the presence of God. I chose the cave that is sacred to me. There will be no more shedding of bull's blood. Where the rocks open widely, the sins of men may be pardoned. What is asked here in prayer will be granted. Therefore, go up to the mountain cave and dedicate it to the Christian God!
(It is perhaps notable that the central ritual of the Roman cult of Mithraism is the shedding of bull's blood in caves.) The bishop, however, began to worry about his own sanity and dismissed the vision. Two years later, the Christian city of Siponto, part of the bishop's diocese, came under attack by the pagan city of Odoacre. Again St. Michael appeared to the bishop, this time promising to save the city of Siponto. Immediately, a violent storm engulfed Odoacre, saving the Christian city. In thanksgiving, the bishop led a procession to the top of the mountain but did not dare to enter the cave.

Soon, Michael appeared to the bishop a third time, ordering him to enter the cave. He said:
It is not necessary that you dedicate this church that I have consecrated with my presence. Enter and pray with my assistance and celebrate the Sacrifice. I will show you how I have consecrated this place.

The bishop then entered the grotto, where he found an altar covered with a red cloth, a crystal cross, and a footprint on the ground. The bishop thereupon commissioned a chapel to built at the entrance to the cave and did not consecrate it because Michael had already done so. The church came to be known as the Celestial Basilica.

St. Michael made another appearance here in 1656 during a great plague. The local bishop invoked St. Michael for protection, and the archangel appeared to him. The plague then ceased, and the mountain shrine became more popular than ever.

The sanctuary has been a popular place of pilgrimage for many centuries: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Bernard of Clairvaux, St. Bridget of Sweden, St. Gerard Majella, St. William of Vercelli and six popes have made the pilgrimage here to ask for St. Michael's protection. http://www.sacred-destinations.com/italy/monte-sant-angelo

Today, the Sanctuary of Mont San Michele has been built above this cave and Mass is still being held here.

THE SACRED HEART OF MARY, MYSTICAL ROSE
SOLD

This rosary is a wearable shrine. it contains an image of a vintage lace holy card of the Sacred Heart of Mary between glass, soldered by hand with silver lead free solder.  You can hang it on the wall as an altar or over a shrine or picture when you are not wearing it.  You will see some ideas on my blog www.path-of-divine-love.blogspot.com

The rosary connector is a special miraculous medal encircled with flowers. At the top of the shrine hangs a sterling silver Agnus Dei locket.  At the end of the rosary chain, at the fastener, dangling down the back, is a sterling silver miraculous medal that I brought back from my pilgrimage to the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal in Paris. (read about it here : http://www.path-of-divine-love.com/search?q=miraculous+medal) Below the image hangs the cluster of rosary beads and a Sacred Heart of Mary medal, as well as a hand made red lampwork rose that picks up the red from the image beautifully.  Also in this cluster is a sterling silver dangle with a tiny flower at the end, with my signature engraved. The necklace is a vintage one and some of the beads are quite chippy making it obvious that it is not new.  This adds to the feel of this rosary. .

At the back of the holy card I framed a piece of text from a vintage Hail Mary.  "Mother of Christ, our hope, our patroness, Star of the sea, our beacon in distress, Guide to the shores of everlasting day, God's holy people on their pilgrim way"

All my art carries the energy of the sacred places that I have visited and continue to visit across the world. You can read about my pilgrimages on my blog www.path-of-divine-love.com. The beaded section of the rosary is 17 inches long and the entire rosary including the shrine is 22 inches long. The soldered shrine is 1 inch by 3 inches.

My art pieces are all one of a kind - never to be repeated again. Each one has a unique energy which is expression of the Divine. I am the Founder and Guardian of the Temple of Mary in Cape Town, South Africa and everything I create is in devotion of the Blessed Mary and the Light which guides our feet and warms our hearts. I use a mix of solder, sterling silver pieces, indian silver, glass beads, plastic beads, semi-precious stones, salvaged paste jewellery, vintage art, vintage prayer cards and holy cards and especially dolls.
